About

Family Tales connects me to the past.  I write about my ancestor’s lives, sometimes my own life, my recollections, and about family member’s who are now gone.  I’ve been asked, “Why do you do it?”  Because I want to preserve their stories.  It brings history to life for me.  My ancestors lived through wars, epidemics, floods, droughts, and famine.  They moved about the United States and the World  They had illegitimate children, love affairs, abortions, miscarriages, divorces, illnesses, deaths, fights, and killings.  Some were dirt poor, others well-off, and a variety of occupations such as; doctors, farmers, shoemakers, and janitors just to name a few. It’s like being a detective to research their lives and connect the dots. Sometimes I’ll write about my research strategies or how to research your family tree.  So sit back, relax, and enjoy their stories. To learn more about me, see my bio page.  I always welcome comments, so feel free to comment, like, and follow.

  1. Hi Gail, I am related by marriage to the Frasers and to Jan Fraser-Hevlin. I live in Burlington ON, in Nelson Twp which is just south of Nassagaweya Twp where the Frasers lived, married, had kids and dies. I have just had Jan Fraser and her son, Bren up to Nass to visit the graves we know about and to the Fraser properties there. I have done a lot of research on the Robertson family. My Mum was a Robertson. Mary Robertson, elder sis of my GGrandfather, David McLellan Robertson , married David Fraser. I am not sure how much help I can be to you but if you have any questions, my email is crmcm1@icloud.com. Can’t guarantee anything but I am very willing to help if I can. Cheerio Carolynn McMillan

  4. Hi Gail,
My Great Grandfather was John Conrad Reinhardt (or Johann Konrad). Per your research, he was the brother of Eva. This aligns with what I’ve found independently via family members. John and Nina’s oldest son Eugene (Gene) was my Grandpa. Eugene and Berenice Albertine Baughmann had 2 daughters; Beverly Ann and Marsha. My Mother is Beverly. Beverly married John E. Sinning Jr in 1957. I’m the oldest of 4; John III, Alicia Lynn, Andrew James and James Austin. My wife, Susan Nina Cramer and I have 2 children; Ashley Helen and Jacob Taylor. Our daughter Ashley is about to have our first grandchild.
I’d love to connect with you more to learn more about Johann and Eva’s parents and family lines.
    John
